| | | Michelle Coady, is the Democratic nominee to fill the vacancy of retired Judge John P. Coady. Illinois’ Fourth Judicial Circuit is comprised of nine (9) counties including: Christian, Clay, Clinton, Effingham, Fayette, Jasper, Marion, Montgomery and Shelby counties. If elected she would be one of only three female judges on the bench throughout the nine county.
Coady is an attorney and mediator practicing in the Fourth Judicial Circuit of Illinois. She has been engaged professionally in the area of alternative dispute resolution for 13 years. She maintains a private law practice in Taylorville, Illinois, practicing in all areas of law, with an emphasis in mediation and civil litigation. She currently resides in Taylorville, Illinois with her four year old son, Alexander.

| Michelle Coady is running for the judicial vacancy created by the retirement of Judge John P. Coady as Circuit Judge at Large in the Fourth Judicial Circuit of Illinois. With over 13 years of experience in alternative dispute resolution, Michelle Coady brings the conflict resolution skills that we desperately need to return civility to our courtrooms and our political process. EXPERIENCED: Coady is a general practice attorney, with broad legal experience from criminal felony defense to all areas of civil litigation. She practices in criminal law, juvenile law, family law and dissolution, municipal law, insurance defense, creditor’s rights, employment law, personal injury and medical malpractice, probate, real estate and property law, education law, and administrative proceedings before state agencies. In addition to her active private practice at David R. Fines, P.C. in Taylorville, she also has a thriving mediation practice. She is certified by the Fourth Judicial Circuit to provide mediation to families in custody and visitation disputes. FAMILY ORIENTED: As a mother of a four-year old son, she understands the struggles of families to provide a safe and nurturing environment for their children. Coady is an advocate for families in her role as a guardian ad litem and child representative in family and juvenile court. She also provides pro bono services to parents in need of free legal representation in custody, visitation and guardianship disputes. SERVICE ORIENTED: Coady has served as an officer of the Christian County Bar Association, is a founding member of the Christian County Women’s Bar Association, a lecturer to fellow attorneys through the National Business Institute in the area of debt collection law, is a past board member of the Greater Taylorville Chamber of Commerce, and is a former “Big Sister” through Big Brothers Big Sisters.
